Collaborative Institute of Cultural Arts is a non-profit organization that focuses on providing quality performing arts education to youth and adults by following six strands of learning: art making, art literacy, cultural understanding, social justice, critical thinking, and community/family engagement.

Collaborative Institute of Cultural Arts is based in the Brighton Park community, but serves the Chicagoland area and suburbs. With four years under its belt and close to 150 members, Collaborative Institute of Cultural Arts is a 501c3 non-profit organization that focuses on providing quality performing arts education to youth and adults by following six strands of learning: art making, art literacy, cultural understanding, social justice, critical thinking, and community/family engagement. CICA’s main objective is to provide a well-rounded, on-going cultural and social-emotional learning development program through cultural arts such as Mexican folkloric dance and music. Programming is done in harmonious congruency between rigorous artistic and personal self discipline and an adherence to assure the fulfillment of each participant’s set of artistic, academic, social, and career goals. CICA has done tours abroad such as Greece, Spain, Portugal, and France. Giving the opportunity to showcase around the world.

CICA will be performing three different dance styles of Mexican folkloric Dance. The regions performed will be from Northern and Central Mexico (Chihuhua, Veracruz and Jalisco). CICA will be showcasing folkloric dance diversity in Mexico, from German and Polish influence in the north of Mexico, to African and Spaniard influences in the south of Mexico.
