Joshua Abrams
Joshua Abrams is a composer, multi-instrumentalist & improviser. He has worked with artists including Fred Anderson, Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Hamid Drake, Theaster Gates, Nicole Mitchell, and Mike Reed. Abrams scored music for nine feature films including Steve James' Oscar-nominated Abacus: Small Enough To Jail. Abrams was a 2018 Grants for Artist recipient from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts. Since 2010 Abrams has composed, recorded, and toured as Natural Information Society (NIS). The group will release their 6th album for Eremite Records, decension (Out of Our Constrictions), in 2021.
Lisa Alvarado
Lisa Alvarado is an artist and harmonium player. Her solo exhibitions include Scab Diagram, Modern Institute, Glasgow (2021); Thalweg, Bridget Donahue, NYC, (2020); Polyphonic Shadow Cloth, LC Queisser, Tbilisi, Georgia (2018); and Sound Talisman, Bridget Donahue, NYC (2017). Her work has been included in exhibitions at ICA, Philadelphia; MCA, Chicago; Marfa Ballroom; KMAC; and Essex Flowers, NYC.
About the Performance
Natural Information Society (duo) will create a music performance and sonic & visual environment playing bass, harmonium and various other instruments within a portable setting.
